I have 2 roosters and need to dispatch one of them, but I can’t decide which one! 😳
The Jersey Giant or the Barred Rock?
I THINK the Giant will result in more meat on the chicks hatched out. What do you guys think?
Jersey Giants would give a bigger adult chicken, but grow more slowly.

I would do with the Barred Rock. Also, the rock should be a little smaller, so easier on the hens.

But.... personality first! Who is better to the hens and to you?

Yeah, keep the BR. Rare they are aggressive, smaller maybe but, more meat on that smaller frame. Plus BRs are better layers....

Left early this morn, picked up a trailer full of fence, beautifully rolled. 4.5 hr round trip. Home, unloaded and went to fill trailer with hay. Back & fed everyone, collected eggs, talked to a neighbor....now
Time to relax. Job work tomorrow. Thought it was gonna rain but we're prob gonna be spared. Maybe a couple sprinkles in morning, certainly overcast to start the day. But mid 50s 👍👍

Plus, weekend rains have moved to Mon/ Tuesday 🥰. Means I can get something going on outside!! 🎉

Kids said we shouldn't move to the Bahamas... the butter would melt too fast... and I can't live without butter....

Also.... too many people....
Well consider my part of East Texas. Warm but with spells of single digits to keep your digits tingly... And some oppressive humidity to remind you why Southerners take it easy. Food is good, people are fantastic. 😊

Good morning, coffee is ready. It’s 44F, clear, with high of 71F today. Still water in the road in front of my place, have to drive around pot holes. Commissioner and crew are doing the best they can. They are doing the worst first, I can get in and out, so not complaining.

Morning, holy terror has calmed down some or it may be the calm before the storm of another night terrorizing everything that she can get her paws on to play with. Pooch downstairs is calm as ever patiently waiting for me to climb down every morning to feed the birds. Pooch house will be completed today, then onto getting running water upstairs in the loft. Be the first time in 5 years to have running water again and a flushing toilet.
