Loving the herd life
Power companies butcher trees here, too. I'm not a tree-hugger, but consider the pros and cons before cutting down a 30 year old living thing. The mulberry in the backyard had fallen over on top of the shed, still alive but I had it removed. The big hardwood covered with wisteria and other vines got a trim. One tree guy was going to take it down, the other pointed out how it was healthy, and had just a minimal lean away from the house, if it went down. He got the job.So day progressed poorly. Power crew came back to obliterate what they had missed. Ok I’ve dealt. Somewhere just south of the rainbow bridge a grove of birches showed up. I grew up in a place where a tree of any kind was a rare and wonderful thing. So I’m over attached. Am I a selfish mook who wants the neighborhood without power? Nope. But…. While I was considering how to present this humorously in a post and feeding sheep, Leo got his lower jaw caught in Caddo’s collar. This descended into a serious dog fight. I was too far away to stop it. So two chewed up dogs. They had played all day, the collar probably got tugged looser and Leo grabbed it (because when isn’t that funny if you’re Leo)- the tangle caused a panic fight and I couldn’t get there fast enough. No one is in trouble that I can see but trips to the vet look probable tomorrow. They both ate but are sleeping hard now.
