So day progressed poorly. Power crew came back to obliterate what they had missed. Ok I’ve dealt. Somewhere just south of the rainbow bridge a grove of birches showed up. I grew up in a place where a tree of any kind was a rare and wonderful thing. So I’m over attached. Am I a selfish mook who wants the neighborhood without power? Nope. But…. While I was considering how to present this humorously in a post and feeding sheep, Leo got his lower jaw caught in Caddo’s collar. This descended into a serious dog fight. I was too far away to stop it. So two chewed up dogs. They had played all day, the collar probably got tugged looser and Leo grabbed it (because when isn’t that funny if you’re Leo)- the tangle caused a panic fight and I couldn’t get there fast enough. No one is in trouble that I can see but trips to the vet look probable tomorrow. They both ate but are sleeping hard now.
Power companies butcher trees here, too. I'm not a tree-hugger, but consider the pros and cons before cutting down a 30 year old living thing. The mulberry in the backyard had fallen over on top of the shed, still alive but I had it removed. The big hardwood covered with wisteria and other vines got a trim. One tree guy was going to take it down, the other pointed out how it was healthy, and had just a minimal lean away from the house, if it went down. He got the job.

Coffee is ready! @fuzzi ive got some for you. Sounds like you need it!

Just started with thunder and rain. Supposed to rain, scattered showers through Monday.

Cow burps and farts. That is the biggest load of political correctness crap. Has nobody mentioned the buffalo population before the white man got here? Estimated between 60 and 90 MILLION. I guess that’s why they were shot, to save the planet. 🤬 So now cows are blamed for global warming. Let’s not forget all ruminants, goats , sheep, deer, elk, and what’s left of the buffalo.

@Blue Sky im sorry about the dog fight, just a freak accident. I hope both are not seriously injured.

I get it about the trees. When I made the offer on this place, it was ringed with 8 big oak trees. A shady oasis, so beautiful. By the time we signed papers, most were dead. Damaged by Snowmeggdon in 2021, followed by drought and heat, trees were dying all over East Texas. I have 1 left. One out in the middle field died. One in the back field blew over this past spring in a windstorm. Two fell across my driveway in that same storm.
I love trees too. It’s like losing a member of the family.

Geesh...a little of "everything" going on this morning with y'all. So far, good here. Whew. It's cold, it's winter and to be honest, haven't accepted that fact! 😑 Trying to think it away -- not working. Hit alarm @6, back to sleep 👍 just now having coffee. Checked animals and they're at the hay I filled at dusk, so I'll get out there in a while. Sun is bright, warming. No real plans.

Half day job this Thursday. Home for rest of Dec!! :old :idunno:love

I ran out in the drizzle to feed sheep and Spot the bottle lamb. It’s pouring down rain and thunder and lightning now. Almost done with second cup of coffee. Then I’ll get busy in the kitchen and cleaning the house.

Found 1/2" ice on tubs 🥴 nothing a good smack with a hammer & 15 gal of hot water wouldn't cure. Only hot water in favorite tubs. Rest broken ice will melt up later. Strong sun.
😖Winter!

I'm inside cleaning. Those things we find hard to start but, get done once we do. 🫨 I'm earning a glass of wine for tonight!! Maybe 2

Wowww, lots happening from everyone.

Checking in from the Library. Can't even complain, this place is nice and they give us food and coffee if we're here long enough.
Just one of those long school days here, started the morning at the gym, then coffee before studying, class, rode, ended up here, class again tonight and something afterwards. Might not see my roommates today.
NFR starts tomorrow so that is very exciting.

I get tired of cows getting blamed for all this "greenhouse gas, climate warming" that they keep going on about... without taking into consideration all the mechanical advancements, over the years.
Same here. Maybe just STOP building subdivisions on farm and ranch land.

I think THAT would be the best for the environment.

Get rid of the cows... and that land will turn into suburbs. SUCH a bad idea.

And yes,in the Netherlands the cows are in a completely enclosed environment.
