Ducks laid two eggs this morning, I hope they pick the pace up before the drone flies over. Yep they got another drone, FAA can't do anything about it unless you catch the operator flying on camera, sure that works when they are miles away.

Anywho, I am not needed for the next week, so I get a week to myself. Might extend it out some if the weather holds it up, though as it sits I need to move about 10 plus loads of rock for our road coming up this week. I'm wore out.

Member of the 12:30 AM club, got a cup of camomile tea, went back to sleep after 2:30. Woke back up at 7. Low of 32 last night, high of 57F today, but it’s sunny so that helps. Got the propane heater lit to warm up the house. I set central heat to 62 at night. Propane heater keeps the electric bill down.

We've had a week of warm, a week of cold switcheroo for almost 6 weeks now. Going from t-shirt 70s to bundle up this week...teens at night for several days 🫨 Watching for snotty noses, etc, pneumonia weather! So far, so good. Today is cold but bright sun & no winds 👍 tolerable. Chores done...coffee fresh, hot and good!!!!! I'll fill the huge 100 gal tub later -- can break ice & fill smaller if hose frozen. I walk the herd checking butts for udder/teat fill. It's not porn. What a life  🫶

Open shades on south side, sun in to heat up room. It's my solar heat fun. Free installation. 😊

Going to be high of 53°F going to put hydraulic line on that blew out last week then track down and break ice up on the ridge so we can safely get down from up here. Also so I can get my dump truck down to start laying rock down till the sheriff shows up for whatever reason they call on me.

How is your water/cistern situation working? Is the "well" still producing water for you and can you still get what you need? Assuming that you are hauling it when the temps are up? I still am in awe of how you got it dug and producing and all that.

Since this is first time it has gotten above freezing temperatures from the last time I pumped water out I will find out today. Last time I hauled water it was so cold that when it sprayed everywhere it iced over immediately and I have left the pump off since then, waiting on these temperatures we are having now to see if it will fill up.
I'm sure there is still water down there in the well, I know the cistern is half full of water.
From what I have learned is it's better to get another 3k plus gallon water cistern for the house and fill it up as it gets to half full or before a long freeze that way when it freezes all the animals water tanks I can pull from it instead.
Another thing is it was an experiment to see if the ground would collapse in if I dug a hole to put a 3k plus gallon water tank in it. Now I know it won't I will put the next 3k plus gallon water tank underground with a structure over it to be buried and any animal water tanks underground.
Also will be putting all animal shelters earth bermed with lights in them on solar.
