Mid 70's today, I'm thinking about not going in to work today. I spent the day fighting my excavator trying to get fuel system primed and started with rebuilt injection pump and between old batteries and bleeding the lines it didn't start. Got to thinking about it, damn thing is off 180° so I need to pull the pump today and time it right. The person who rebuilt it didn't set the timing right.
In order to rebuild a injection pump you need a flow bench, not many things require flow benches so it's best to send them off for rebuilding. I want to hear that excavator run again, haven't heard it since last August.

So harvest day is tomorrow -- I know there's a big thread on tanning, and it covers all sorts of animals.
General question - is it worth the time and effort? Give it try 'just because'? One of the lambs has a nice pelt - fuzzy/wooly for a hair sheep, and the other two are more hair.
Thoughts? Anything I need to do right away? Any supplies I should have on day 1??
Will head down the YouTube rabbit hole as soon as I can - but chores and other things call for now.

Figured out how to brew with a new coffeemaker at work, a gift from one of the faculty. One side brews, the other takes K-cups. I'm not impressed, it left coffee grounds all over the water spraying mechanism. There's no way to detach it for cleaning. Way to go

Storms are forecast to arrive this afternoon.

Don't bother with snow tires, studded tires, winter tires or summer tires, just get some M/T 10 ply tires and run'em year around. Told by one neighbor who thinks they know it all that doesn't live here full time that A/T are best so they don't sling up bigger rocks hitting the vehicle. I beg to differ, have two chips in my windshield from regular highway steer tires, not even M/T tires on my truck.
Eh.... after many years of driving with various kinds of tires...

In the conditions I drive, studded rule.

Some of the old studded tires of years past can be an issue on hard ice, and skate along the top... but I haven't experienced that with the newer studded tires.

It might just be that it rarely goes below 0F where I am at.

Anyway, I love my Nokian tires.

If you want it really nice, that I would say spend the big bucks and send it in. Ask the people who will prep it for you how they want the hide.

My kids experimented with all kinds of tanning, and the results were OK, but not professional. Their taxidermy weasel is great... but then again you don't sit and snuggle it... you just look at it.

2am.
We came in tonight to find out that the fiber on the machine was all there is to run. By 11pm we were done so my trainee got a lesson in all the intricate ins & outs of deep cleaning the weft system. We're taking another long break & I'm in NEED of coffee. I have no idea how to keep both of us busy from now until 7.
Easy money.... looong night

It’s much harder to look busy when you have nothing to do.

I just made coffee for you!

Having a cuppa before I head out to work. It'll be a long day in a store getting a total renovation. People & stuff everywhere! 🥴 You work a section & try to block out the rest. Not fun 🙄...3 days of it scheduled.

Cool & rainy yesterday. I canned fresh pork & rendered lard. Add to the pantry. Good day for inside.

Upper 60's today, pulled injection pump off yesterday, yep off 180°. So somehow I need to retime it that the builder didn't do. The place where I turn wrenches at sure is going to have a hard time replacing me not just from the bar I set, but from another entity always hiring at the same time. They can't find mechanics here much less a mechanic/welder/aluminum welder/electrician/ hydraulic specialist/heavy equipment specialist.... should I keep going? :gig
