Well worth all the excitement! Y’all have 2 new baby chicks! I love mamma hens with chicks!
We’ve got both of those eight legged nasties here too.Rattlers and Diamond Backs are something that we haven’t seen here. Although, when I lived in Lake Worth, one time I saw a HUGE Diamond Back crawling, diagonally, across an intersection. We DO have Black Widows and DH saw a Brown Recluse spider in the feed shed once.
Brown recluse spiders like to hide in small dark places. That is another really good reason to check your shoes, before putting them on, if you live in the Midwest or Southeastern part of the country.
I’ve got those - and yup almost walked in one at eye level. If it was one of these, they can be TERRIFYING - especially at face level - but are harmless to us and are GREAT garden helpers. I have several every summer and love to see how many deerflies and even big'ol horseflies they catch every day.

Yes! That is exactly what it was! We have always let them be ‘cause I read they didn’t bother people and we have seen lots of insects in their webs . . . And they can have all the horse flies they want!!!If it was one of these, they can be TERRIFYING - especially at face level - but are harmless to us and are GREAT garden helpers. I have several every summer and love to see how many deerflies and even big'ol horseflies they catch every day.
