Vickie had her kits!!
8 or 9.
Had to redo her nest, more hay and over to the off side, so they don't get stomped.

Yesterday
Doing family trees with V.
Should of continued to do it in pencil so I could erase and redo it neatly once I have them all laid out...
It'll make seeing the lineages easier.

Tanya and the lone foster.

LGD and a Tanya kit. Sometimes I put live ones down to make sure he remembers the difference between fresh culls kicking and live ones hopping.

Moved to bigger cage and lined up 4 feeders. Staying a bit cleaner now! Still sitting in them, of course, but water is further away and mom usually naps between both, acting like a mud mat. 😅

PM water refill-
Freckles pulled a bunch of fur, tons, last night. Hoping there's warm kits this morning!

Today
*sigh* I really need to stop breeding to more than one buck. And for the most part, I have, but apparently, I forgot about my new rule when I was breeding Tanya...

Tanya kits, bred to baymax & swirl.
Got opal kit(s). How?? Not possible without a shaded. Forgot about Swirl, a black tort.

So how is it rex furred??
Speckle dam, mom sf, but dad was that NZ/Rex mix, recessive genes!

At least I'm starting to absorb the color gene info! 😅

Started finishing off 2 more nests, as I'll need a ton of them soon!
Will probably use cardboard boxes for one or two does in the cages. Idk if I have enough hanging hooks, might need to buy more.
I put the nests on the tops of cages or on the ground in front. Helps keep track of who gets the nest. Sometimes I think I need mini name cards and tuck them into the nests vs moving them. Ah well.

Moved the foster to Unity's nest.

Would prefer something neat n tidy like this-

But currently have a convoluted mess like so-

😅 Better than before. Needs a bit more reworking to be neater. Maybe further color coding by buck, too.

I found something at Bass. I wonder if big 2 liter bottles could be attached to them for gravity auto refill. 🤔
Had to ask FB to find real info on them.
Pictures and sizing from Michael Mette. 2×2×18 inches. Galvanized.
