Every winter I tell myself that I’ll work on de cluttering my basement with all the extra indoor time I have, right? I usually work on it once or twice, but then the winter flies by and it just doesn’t get prioritized. Well this year we made a resolution to work on it a little bit every weekend. So far so good! This was the first weekend of 2024, and yesterday we streamlined all our Christmas decorations as we put them away.
We’ve been weeding some of this stuff out over the last few years, so that made it a little easier. Yesterday we were able to condense what was left from 9 boxes down to only 6!
He built the shelves to fit the boxes, so the empty ones are still in place. We will use them when we reorganize the rest of the basement.
Next week we will tackle the opposite side of that storage room:
Oh, Mini Horses, this is barely scratching the surface! That room is about 25% of the basement. Another 25% is DH’s pristine well organized work area, and then the whole other half is chock full of all the paraphernalia from all my assorted hobbies and other things I’ve been packing-ratting away over the years. Cardboard box collection, anyone?
But yes, I am glad I have a basement. I would not have been able to breed my budgies and other caged birds for the 12 years I did it otherwise.
But since we hope to move in 2-3 years, it is time to make a dent and get things moveable. (And downsize a lot.)
Thank you @Baymule ! Always nice to have cheerleaders
