Today I’m waiting for a customer to come buy all my turkeys. Trying to downsize and make my workload a little easier. And the turkeys don’t have a great living space, so they are out of here. (Not the first time I’ve gotten rid of all my turkeys. I once went over a year with none, and then bought more. This time I’m not buying more until we move to a place where I can make them a better living space.)

I’m also selling 5 of my 13 roosters, and twenty some hens. Seems like I never take pictures of my birds until I need photos for Craigslist. So here are some pics of some sale birds.

What I need to do is take some pictures of my Tolbunt Polish for you all. This year I finally got some frizzle ones!

Here is one of my non-frizzle Tolbunt Polish.

Named him Abe, because when he was a baby, he had a black beard. It has since turned white.

Lotta turkeys! Don't suppose you saved one for Thanksgiving. 🙄
No, I didn’t save any. 😂

I had been thinking that if I still had any by the week of, that I would butcher one. But I had it in my ad that the buyer would get a discount if they took all 8, so that’s what they did.

Just as well, because we are not huge fans of turkey meat and I still have 5 quarts of turkey broth left from last Christmas’ turkey. This year we will be taking some Thanksgiving dinner items to our youngest son’s apartment in Cincinnati since none of the rest of the kids has plans to travel here for the holiday. It will be a scaled down meal and we will leave any leftovers for him.

Plus, I am just glad to see them all gone. It was really a weight hanging over my head that I was making them live with the geese and didn’t have a better spot to put them in.

Thought I would post some chick pictures. Two hatched and one is still showing movement, so I will leave it in the incubator as long as there is hope.

These are barnyard mix. I had put a few in the incubator along with about 15 or so Tolbunt Polish, but none of the polish were fertile. I did the same thing for a few different hatch dates. There is only one growing egg in the Christmas hatch (BYM) and I have a New Year’s Day hatch that I will candle on Monday. I don’t really expect any of the polish to be fertile, but there are about 5 BYM that ought to be.

I was going to quit setting all these Polish eggs because they are from newly-laying pullets and they just don’t seem to be viable yet. So I started to eat them instead. Well the second egg I cracked open appeared to have a bullseye on it, so I went back to saving them for incubating.

I did add 4 adult Polish hens to that pen, so the fertile egg was probably a BYM egg from one of those ladies. After a couple of weeks, either they will all start being infertile again, or hopefully the frizzle rooster will start doing his job.

But I don’t need any more mix chicks, so I think I will just set eggs from the one pen now, and not add extra random ones.
