Irises, Gladiolus, Peonies, daffodils, tulips, dahlias, climbing roses, chrysanthemums......hollyhocks.... all the stuff that comes up year after year...
Ah, perennials!

Mine are daffodils, chrysanthemums, coreopsis, coneflowers, primroses, bugleweed, clematis, daylilies, iris, canna lilies, sedum, creeping Jenny, crinum lilies, climbing roses...

Can't grow tulips or lilacs here, too warm, or maybe our winters aren't cold enough?

I have banana trees, even had a small bunch one year, but there wasn't enough time for the tiny bananas to ripen.

Hollyhocks come back every year?
I moved from Lindale in such a hurry, there was no time to dig up a start of the bulb flowers I had there.

Here in my flower graveyard, I have a start of yellow iris, 2 crepe myrtles, and day lilies. There was more, but they died. Gotta be tough to hang with me. LOL

If you want to try planting some tough perennials I'll send you some bareroot coreopsis and canna lilies. They spread, too, but they're not invasive, just eager. They handle heat just fine, and some drought.

One farm I tested had hollyhocks come back every year... maybe they reseeded themselves??? All I know is they had a huge patch alongside one barn and they grew every year and I just assumed they came back... now I have to look them up.
I did not know that tulips and daffodils needed more cold to come up.... I do know that the bulbs are a favorite of d#@ned moles, to eat them.

I love love love frogs. We had so many in our pond at our ranch in Murphys CA.

Up here, not many show up. Great job!!

I also love Iris, second to glads.
I meant to reply that all I have to do is make a pool of water and I get frogs!

I've already rehomed FIVE bullfrogs this Spring. I don't like them as they eat everything, including the minnows, the other frogs, and BIRDS. Ugh. While the weather is chilly I go hunting and remove the bullfrogs while they're not very mobile. The Leopard and Green frogs are welcome. They have gold-sparkly irises, and I like hearing them call for companionship.

My daylilies (most of them) :love

I thin out my perennials and plant them elsewhere in the yard, or give them away.

I’ll take you up on that offer! I’m loving your day lilies too. Would it be too much to ask for a start of the different colors? Mine are plain yellow, I love day lilies.

Shall I wait until the lilies bloom or just guess as I thin out? I did plant them in blocks of color.

Cannas are just sprouting, coreopsis is already up.
