I need to do two bucklings soon. It seems banding is the most newbie friendly, but I know it isn't reputed to be the most humane. Crushing with a burdizo type contraption sounds awful as well. Cutting and severing sounds barbaric as well but I know the last two methods seem to be actually less traumatic than the first.

This is my first year with the need to do this. I have seen people willing to disbud for me but no one running around castrating or banding. So it's on me I guess.

What method do YOU use, was it easy to learn or a learning curve like with the disbudding?

I band mine at 8-10 weeks old.
You just need to make sure you get the band all the way at the top of the scrotum with both testicles below the band. Make sure you don't get his little teat caught in the band.
I've observed that they seem "subdued" for an hour or two, but then act like nothing ever happened.

With banding tetanus is a concern. I didn't cdt vax the dam so I would need to do cdt vax at 2 weeks and again at 6 weeks then at 10 weeks I would not need tetanus antitoxin at all, right?

We band ours after they receive both CD&T vaccines.
We don't give antitoxin.

I band after 8 weeks. I have done them as late as 4 months. Like @OneFineAcre said, they act a little quiet for a few hours and then they are fine. I have never had any problems.

Just like most responding, I always banded mine when they got their CD-T vaccs. I tried to wait as long as I could (10-12 weeks). That's because I was told it would help prevent urinary problems as adults the later you band.
