I just brought home my 4 years old paca, Kusko yesterday. He is adorable and I love how clean he is. Now I wish I had thought of Alpaca before goats... I love my goats but I LOVE my paca.

He is adorable!!

Funny cut but will have a more plain one next year....

The fact that he pees and poops in the same spots makes him my favorite pet!!

He is adorable and I love his hair cut! I'm just curious, why did you decide to get him? Is it for his fur or because you just wanted one? Are they used for anything in particular?

Kusko is small and was picked on by other pacas where he was from. He was given to his previous owner who only has goats. He lived with goats for 2-3 years and adjusted well. She needed more room for more goats so she offered him. I just took the opportunity. Had he not been living with goats as a single paca or not adjust well, I would never consider owning a paca.

Oh that is so cool! How nice of your friend. Well I'm glad Kusko found a good home and everybody is happy!

While not highly publicized, using alpaca for meat is not uncommon. I've had it and it's very lean and tasty. It ranks up there as being a very healthy meat due to the low fat content.

I am seeing about trimming his head. I barely can see his eyes and can't imagine when he would look like in the Spring with all his fleece grown in. Next Spring, I would just shear him all over but leaving just top of his head with fleece. :)

I was hand feeding Kusko alfalfa hay and the goats wanted some. Kusko was able to stop the goats with his spits. Unfortunately I got hit too when Walter came between me and Kusko. Do not underestimate the power of spitting. Kusko had Walter cornered with one spit after another...even Walter was stunted and gave up on stealing food for awhile.
