I am not criticising... but we NEVER use LA200 or any oxytet used for injection, in the eye tissue... it burns like hell...
Use mastitis medicine... Today or Tomorrow... does not burn... has antibiotics in it...
No worries, I want to learn!
I injected main dose of LA200 into shoulder muscle. Then I used a little bit as eye drops. It didn't seem to burn or bother him. I think I have Today mastitis tubes on hand. If so I'll use that to retreat next time.

If the baby didn't react to the LA200 then the nerve endings were already "dead" so to speak. Which might be good for him... and it may help save the existing tissue.
Like @Mini Horses ......We will inject 1 cc penicillin into the eye lid (on the eye side) and yes it leaks out a little into the eye which is good... when we have bad pinkeye that needs treating...

The mastitis tubes are great since it is not too exacting... it does not hurt or irritate... believe me, if it did, when you used it for mastitis, the goat or cow would kick the living daylights out of you... it feels funny as it goes in for the cows and they might dance or kick from the pushing it in the teat, and usually stop as soon as you are done, but not because it burns or stings...and the solution it is in actually seems to coat the eye and is more soothing... That is about all we ever use for pinkeye unless it is real bad, then we also do the penicillin in the eyelid, put a patch on to protect from the sun intensity, and by the time the patch falls off/gets rubbed off... the eye is usually much better... we do not put the glue all the way around the patch.... actually we put the glue around the top and sides 2/3 of the eye area, leaving it open on the bottom so any draining can seep out that way... then put the patch on and push it firmly against the head...
I hope that he does not have any other problems with the eye, but from the pictures you posted, it does look like the eye is not salvageable. If it does just sorta dry up/shrivel... it will just sit there and not be a problem for the lamb.

I bought Snickers as a registered ram, papers in hand but ear tag missing. He is Codon RR on his pedigree. So I'm using blood test as a double check that he is as presented. I want to establish a QQ free flock at minimum.
Good idea. Using a RR ram on QQ ewes will give you RQ progeny. Do you blood test all progeny after this? Could be expensive if the flock grows.

Sounds good. I have to draw blood from rams for Brucellosis testing, maybe I should do same. Last time I did whole flock testing it cost over $1000. I will check with vet for price. Might be a good selling point along with testing and culling for Barber Pole parasite resistance in Texas. Since the vet has to health check every animal for the transport certificate, it might be cheaper to do it at same time now instead of another ranch call later. At least I will save on cost of one ranch call. I don't sell much breeding stock now because there is not much call for it here but in Texas it will be different, and I have good stock from well-known bloodlines.

@Ridgetop Dorpers are the BIG deal here. You will definitely have a lot of interest. Your animals look great and will not be closely related to anything local.

Chisholm Trail Dorper Association hosts a couple annual breeding sheep events. It would be a good place to meet other producers.

It looks like your lamb will be ok to grow off for the freezer. I know you were worried about him.

You are right, Dorpers are the big deal here in Texas. Katahdins are a close second. Texas has more sheep than any other state. With @Ridgetop showing up with her flock, she will be pleasantly surprised by how well they sell.

Hmmm....maybe she should buy a few more to bring along
5 yearling ewes, 2 mature ewes, and one ram! Wes wrote to me today to say that all 3 of the yearlings are pregnant (unexpectedly). They look to be due in 2 weeks. He offered to exchange those ewes for others but they are the best ones so I think I will keep them and consider the lambs as a bonus. ;)
