My husband is aiding and abetting sheep math. So is my MIL.

How big of a trailer do I need to transport 10 sheep?

Seriously, how many sheep fit in a 8'x4' trailer? Do I need to rent a 12'x5' or 14'x5'?

I just brought 5 home in the front section of my trailer, it’s a 16’ trailer. Go for the 14x5.

So sanity has reasserted itself. I'm going to get less sheep. Only 6 yearlings and weanlings.

I remeasured and my trailer is actually 9'x5' inside. So they should fit. I'm building a new cage now.

Oreo is over 15lbs now and having fun with herd.

I hope that cage is going to be secure enough. I’m having visions of @Latestarter ‘s flying pig!



Some back story, since that was before your time here: @Latestarter went to buy a pig from another BYH member. He built a cage for the back of his truck that he didn’t think the pig could escape from. But partway home, the pig actually climbed to the top of the cage where it was less secure and jumped out of the moving vehicle.

You can read about it in his journal. But I think you’d probably have to read half way through before you come to that part.
