They'll be cute one they unfold....only about an hr or so there. BUT ya know pic rules. 😄

Ya know, I've always had a LOT of white kids with the Saanen but, this one buck is cookie cutter brown. Lot of white boots but, also heavy doe producer. Good!

Always conformation but color is first thing you see at birth 🤣 so commented on that. It takes a couple weeks to begin assessment, once they unfold. Then you start with harder look. I'm not wanting to increase numbers, just value the kids for replacements and sales avenues -- meat market or breeders. It's a commercial herd primarily, although these are registerable Boer. Some I do the papers. Always important to watch what is strong that is consistently produced. Good legs, feet, long back, good weight -- whatever. Makes for better outcome & crosses.

Spent years with registries & shows for horses, donks & goats. Not wanting all that now. Still selective for what is and produces best but, not stressing over best in show. I'm packing trophies from national champions this year-- tired of looking at & dusting off. 🤷 My stage in life. Enjoyment.

Yesterday I made some changes for paddock access at end of barn where I have the doe stalls for newborns to bond. Mornings, I can open stalls and doors at that end of barn aisle then they can wander in/out. Really ready does can use a doubled stall....in case. The herd is too big for newborns being loose until they get a week on them and know mom. Plus easier for me to be sure all nursing, moms udder ok & so on.

So spent the day with some kid proofing of fence, moving barn aisle blocker further down, moving bags of bedding, feed & hay to this barn, etc. Warm out but, windy in afternoon.

👍 I was a good girl. More to to today. Glad I have no work jobs for now!

A large single doeling this morn. Another FF. Big bag on her...kid belly full ☺️ a brown kid with black points ... Mom black. Dad the brown Boer guy. This kid is 3/4 Boer. Gotta move her & mom -- who isn't an in my pocket one -- to kidded barn. Nice doe but could be sold, she's less handleable than others. :idunno will see how it goes when I get her in & attempt to collect colostrum. 😵‍💫

What a mess. This doe took off for herd, leaving doeling asleep. Would not go back!🥴😱😡. Disowned the kid. Later 3 of us spent about an hour to get her in the barn. Tried to be nice, she wouldn't come to baby. We corralled, jumped, ran, moved gates & fence panels -- finally said WTH and snatched her by her hind leg while she was crowding into some feed...with 10 others! We fought. DS came to help (she weighed close to double me!) and we wrestled her to barn. Maniac! She won't let kid nurse, or let me milk. Before being savaged...I cussed and left them for night -- praying for best. Nope. Now I'm bottling.

So, this afternoon another FF went into labor and with help, we delivered a BIG buckling. Thankfully, she's infatuated with her son & is tame. So after she gets a few private time, I'll move them to barn.

Let me tell you, after playing like a football qtrback & lineman, I was ready for some ibuprofen & acetaminophen at bedtime -- which came early at 8pm. I had to lay down & stretch out. Muscles I didn't even know were there hurt! What's this about "prime"??? Guess I'm ok, kept up with the other two youngins :old. Today I'm fine...things back to normal.

Uhhh....that witch of a doe is going to auction 1/11. She's a nice doe, structure wise but, I'm not dealing!!🤬 whatever $$ is fine.

She's a @farmerjan decision -- no attitudes stay.
