Well I have to say, if she ate the placenta she did a thorough job. You can't even tell a kid was born in the stall last night. No blood, nothing.

How long do I let the baby struggle with nursing before I milk her and suppliment with a bottle. Poor Lucy's udder look awful tight, and the baby is trying to nurse constantly.

Sorry - my paranoia is kicking in. Now the baby is here, I'm stressing worse than before!

The baby is adorable!

I wouldn't worry about the placenta unless the doe is acting off. If she is up, active and eating well, then all is probably fine.

About the baby, they have a tendency to try and nurse EVERYTHING the first few days. Have you seen her actually nurse? Is she up and active? Is she overly vocal? Does her belly feel tight?

Mom is up and eating, drinking doing fine. Baby is consistantly trying to nurse. I tried to milk her a little, and got a little colostrum flowing, that udder is tight! Makes me hurt for her.

Baby is up toddling around, not screaming, but being vocal and alert. I'll keep a close eye on her the next two days - I'm sure I'll wear a path to the barn.

I took an apple down to Lily and she at least ate part of it.

A hungry baby will be screaming. Check her belly regularly. If it is tight, she is nursing. If you are really worried you can offer her a little in a bottle. A hungry baby will take it, a not hungry baby will not. But be careful, she might take it just because she is young and then she may not want to nurse her momma. So I wouldn't do this unless you are pretty sure she isn't getting enough.

Again, she is pretty and so is her momma.

Thanks everyone - I have to admit - I'm not into spots. I like the looks of a solid coat. But this little one is awful cute. DH and I are already arguing cause I said I'm not selling her. She's our first baby born here, and since I pulled her into this world, I'm just a little attached. :p

I wanted to post yesterday and say I had a feeling that she would not last until her due date. She looked ready to kid yesterday by her udder.

Im glad everything went alright. Very cute doeling!
