Hi everyone,

My 5m.o buckling's penis won't retract the whole way and he's in obvious discomfort.

I've given him a little bit of baby aspirin which seems to have settled him but what else can I do?

I've had a yard full of does and doelings in heat causing quite a ruckus which I think is the cause, even though they're quite a distance apart?

Sorry, I've never seen that issue in a goat. Only experience I've had with something like that was a friend with an overly excited dog. Happened in the winter. The penis on dogs (and goats) is literally not meant for prolonged outside air exposure. The skin that should have been flexible to allow the penis to extend and withdraw had tightened up with swelling. In this case there was already to much damage and the dog had to be euthanized.

Anti-inflammatories would be in order is my guess....and it's only a guess. Can you seek veterinary advice?

Good luck, I hope it works out well for the little guy.

How is he now? If my animal, I'd lay him down -- you may need help -- and palpate the area to see if any debris is in the sheath. Rinse all with lukewarm water, see what reaction you get from feeling all areas along abdominal area & penis/sheath, even to testicles. If any reaction that's area to further investigate. The actual issue may even be calcium crystals in his urinary tract. Have you seen him urinate? Is his stomach bloated?

Beyond an obvious injury, the next step is a vet & probably X-rays.

We've also experienced this once with a dog, thankfully no lasting damage and the disprin did sort out my goat. He's fine now 🙏🏻. But it is a weird one? 🤔

I look forward to hearing from anyone else who's had experience with this ...

Hi, thanks for this 👍🏻

Nope, no other symptoms. He's peeing (and pooing) normally, eating etc. No bloating and since having the disprin seems to be absolutely fine 🤷🏻.

If he didn't improve within half an hour of having the disprin I would've had him off to the vet tho' ...
