She looks ready to go back with mom.
I would but mom no longer has milk, so she is a bottle baby. Plus she has only been feeling good for 2 days now, still to early to tell how she's going to be yet.

Zinc. If you get some Zinpro, I know it is a quarter teaspoon for alpacas so I would probably double it for llamas. Given orally. She also might have mites. Is the skin like elephant skin? Then I would get Camelid Skin Mix to put on her and do Ivomec for 3 times 10 days apart.

Also, is that halter on her all the time? If it is, can you take it off?
Where do i find that... and how much Ivomec do i give her? yes it looks like elephant skin.

Some llamas/alpacas are more suspectible to mites than others. If the Ivomec doesn't work, then Frontline spray works really well. Also NuStock cream works great to help the skin get back to normal. I think you can get NuStock at Light Livestock Supply.

I will look for it, Thanks........

Peachy looked fiesty in her pen so i decided to let her walk around in the backyard. Mom came over to her ,aswell as the young Alpaca. Peaches was trotting about, trying to run and buck, tried doing some crow hops and neck swings... hehe. She looked so cute all stretched up tall with little tail curled over her back. I never thought she'd get this far...... :love
I let her spend some time with mom while I watched from a distance. Peaches tried to figure out how to nurse mom, but mom kept spinning in a circle every time she got close to a teat., so peaches decided to try it on the young Alpaca male............. He didn't know what to think, he kept jumping sideways as Peaches pursued him. I was cracking up. Back to me she came for a bottle then off for some more play time. Glad she wore herself out some, maybe we'll both get some sleep tonight. :D
Is it possible if I keep letting Peaches try to nurse that mom may drop milk again? I know my Mustang mare, who never had a baby, dropped milk when she tried to adopt my mini stallion when he was 3 months old. It wasn't a lot but she did nurse him..... up until he was almost 2. I would separate them but mom would jump the fence or the mini would put his head through the fence and nurse anyhow..... she finally figured out he wasn't going to grow anymore. :p

It is always possible but rarely happens. I have a friend who had a 16 year old alpaca that came into milk for an orphan. It was never enough to stop bottle feeding but did help supplement a little. If mom is refusing to let her nurse, then it probably is over. Ones who come back into milk or come into milk let anyone nurse on them at any time.

Well I'll just consider it training for mom if she ever has a baby again.... this was her first, so she needs the practice anyhow... hehe
