The Oregon packs are increasing and moving South. People don’t realize but they have penetrated S California already. My son has videoed 2 different wolves on the ranch where he works, which is S and E of Bakersfield 😳
Oh swell. The next predator I'll get to "deal" with. While I'm quite a ways south of Bakersfield that only means I've got some time until they get down here. Joy of joys, another apex predator and one with more "guts" than coyotes.

Have heard that the way to get around that, is to gut shoot them so they run off and die... if you gut shoot, the bullet goes through so cannot be found, the animal disappears and then if the tracking collar finds that they have stopped, who knows where, what, how, who......by the time they are found it is often unable to prove how it died...
Have you read anything on how they "reintroduced" wolves into a part of Colorado... there was a huge big deal about where and how the animals were chosen from... and that they have wound up with 10 that were released... secretly.... and turns out they have come from several packs that were from LIVESTOCK depredation packs from OREGON..... There are several stories you can google... it's creating a HUGE deal.....
We need to release these "reintroducing xxx species" closer to these bleeding heart areas and let them start to destroy the pretty little fancy pampered dogs and see them try to drag off a child or 2 or savage someone trying to protect said dog or child... to realize that they are not the epitome of the "wonderful wilderness " ....
I do not hate all predators... we need a balance... but this is also part of the cut off the farmers at the knees about raising cattle and all those terrible people that want to eat meat... they have no idea of how the farmer/rancher and the whole agricultural community are an integral part of the financial health of many of these states economy...
Grains and vegetables and such do not exist in a vacuum to be grown and such without the input of ORGANIC fertilizers... and that comes from animals.

Sadly those peeps have made it impossible to even chase off or scare coyotes. In San Fran they will grab little Fifi even when on lead. Same is true for a lot of the cities in Cali. At least where I am, the coyotes are not that bold. Well until they start relocating them here. Never know where the current pack came from, but they have been definitely bolder than what we've had.

The boss’ Grampa has a ranch in Cascade, ID. We used to haul the yearlings up there for the summer. The wolves were taking down 700 lb steers as they unloaded off the trucks, with cowboys all around. They asked for depredation permits and were told to “hire someone to patrol the ranch and deter the wolves using RUBBER BULLETS!
It really has gone too far.

Like the stupid landowner that we rent from that said to get some deterrent like a llama or donkey, against the coyotes... and it is legal to shoot them, but not on HIS LAND... wish they would corner him or his dog.....

Like I said.... gut shoot so the bullet goes through, they run off to bleed to death...use a big enough caliber, no one can prove anything.... this protect the wildlife is totally out of hand...

My hands have been unspeakably painful past couple days. Can’t cook, can’t hold a cup or book, can’t even dress myself.
Hoping a steroid injection next Thurs @ rheumatologist will help. Feels like 1 step forward and 3 steps back all the time.
Definitely not one of those people who wants to live forever, it hurts too much! 😳

Fen is going to start getting some crate time and limited access to Boone. He’s addicted, like a kid to his Xbox.
We will go back to short training sessions each day, and scheduled play and chore time.
Boone gets very little access to house as he isn’t housebroken and I don’t have the energy ti go out with him every hour. But even though he’s just a farmdog, not a working LGD, he’s perfect for me.
