My sheep are so weird. They are completely obsessed with young poultry.

Fiona just wants “secret snackies” (a handful of grain when no one else is looking). Except she’s very loud and demanding so I’m surprised nobody else has figured out what she’s up to yet.

Oskar Biteyface likes his throne. He can see more of his kingdom from up there.

I found this fledgling bird (robin, I think) behind the water tank yesterday. I think he looks like Bernie Sanders. 🤣

And now I have strep throat! 😭 I just can’t catch a break. Back on antibiotics and steroids.

I had an ultrasound to check on my kidney yesterday and it looks fine.

I turned the lambies out onto the field today. The grass is finally grown back enough. We’ve been in a drought for a while and the grass hasn’t been happy. We’ve had 3 good days of rain so things are looking up.

Good on the grass and kidney - but bummer on the strep. Had I dermatology appt week ago Wed. Two days later a nasty cold. Was totally down and out for two days. Finally feeling a little better. Want to stay as far away from the med areas - but unfortunately can't at the moment. Hope you're feeling better very soon.

I work in a hospital so I’m exposed to all manner of nasties on a daily basis. I guess I should be thankful I’m not sick more often.

I thought it was a cold at first, but 3 days in and the snot hadn’t arrived and my tonsils swelled up.

The strep just about took me down. I worked last Friday and the weekend and I shouldn’t have (Friday at least). I was still having fevers on Friday. I’m all recovered now, but I still have a couple days of antibiotics left to go.

My sister also got sick, but she saw the doctor (same one I see) before she was as sick so was put on meds sooner and as a result she didn’t get it too bad.

We’ve had rain almost every day for a week now. The ponds are full! Hopefully the grass will come back nicely. Everything was pretty crispy.

The pigs are pastured around this pond. Their fence goes through the pond and right now, you can’t even see the posts in the middle.

I woke up this morning to a text from a neighbor saying that Oskar was out. The fence fell over last night/this morning and the rams and Oskar got out. Not how I wanted to start off my day, but they made it easy on me. The rams got into the barn and only nibbled on the grain and then most of them ended up in the front yard. By the time I got the fence set back up and got it open where I wanted them to go back in, they all showed up and I just had to shoo them in. Didn’t even need to break out the Border Collie. 🤣

Oskar was the next problem. I couldn’t see him when I went out so I texted the neighbor back and asked if she could see him. Normally if Oskar gets loose he makes you work to catch him and if there’s anything I despise, it’s chasing animals. However, right after I texted the neighbor, I spotted him way up the hill at the other neighbor’s. I hollered for him and he came running back AT A GALLOP! Needless to say, he got lots of praise and a treat.

I need to put up a divider fence in the ewes’ field. There’s all this nice grass up by the road, but they don’t graze up there because they’re lazy and it’s too far from the barn. I might do that today if it ever stops raining. I’m going to need some more t-posts and wire. I have poly wire, but I think I want to use actual wire and make it a little bit more permanent. I’ll probably make a TSC/Rural King run at some point.

Monster the kitty is still in the house. I had to let him out of the bathroom and into my bedroom, but he’s a holy terror at night. I think he sleeps all day when I’m at work and then he’s ready to go at night. He’s better on days that I’m home and I’m in and out of the room all day. We’re attempting “loose in the whole house” today. He’s keeping the JRT entertained.

Hazel is enjoying the break from him. He’s been relentless in his torments. She’s been very tolerant of him, but I wish she’d tell him off.

My parents are getting a new JRT puppy. My dad has been a mess since losing his little girl. They were going to get a puppy from their girl’s moms new litter, but she ended up not being pregnant.

My sister found a breeder in TN who has a 6mo girl available. She was being retained for their breeding program, but ended up being too small for them. She’s being spayed and will be ready to come home in 3 or 4 weeks.
