Twist had another Best Day Ever today. We ran errands (TSC and Rural King) to get fencing supplies, he got to hang out outside with me all afternoon and he got to put a lot of ducks away for the night. My sister and BIL are away so I did chores for them tonight.

Twist was verbally assaulted by a shopping cart full of Heeler puppies at Rural King. He didn’t even flinch, just gave them a disdainful glare and calmly strolled away. 🤣

The new fence is done except for the gate section. I ran out of light and energy and a storm was rolling in.

It’s one straight shot all the way across the field. Now I’ll be able to rotate the ewes between the front and the back sections and let the grass rest a bit. It’s a more permanent fence than electronet or a plastic post/polywire fence which means I won’t have to take it down this fall.

How nice that Oskar came running when you called him! These puppies can drive us nuts. Hard to remember they aren’t adults yet, when they are so big. It seems their body grows first and their brains show up later. Good boy Oskar!

You had a very productive day! That fence will help with the grazing. Twist is such a good boy. I enjoy taking Carson to town and he loves the attention he gets from people.

I’m glad you are feeling better, no fun being sick.

Made a new friend today.

I found him unable to stand at the edge of one of my ponds. I caught him and called a wildlife rehab place. They came and picked him up this afternoon. I was told that he has flukes (different from liver flukes in livestock). I guess they’re really common in herons. He should make a full recovery.

She still loves her mama.

I started shearing lambs today. I got 5 done. I could have done more, but I didn’t feel like locking them in the barn and after #5, the rest decided it was time to go back out to graze.

Xena has lost all her body spots. I’m not surprised. Her facial spots have tamed down too. She’s still cute though!

Naked Shetland lambs are so ridiculously adorable (that’s leftover grain on her face BTW, not snot)

Wooly fluffy sheep to sheared sheep is such a difference. Their sweet faces are still the same. I can’t wait to see what you do with their wool. You are so talented and artistic.

Twist is such a good boy. He’s a good all around farm dog and Rural King shopper.

What kind of cattle does your sister have? Nice looking calves.

I’m not saving this wool. Most of it is too short to do anything with. I like to shear lambs their first summer because they tend to ruin their fleeces. Shearing now means that they are cooler, I can keep a better eye on their weight, and the spring fleeces will be nicer.

She has Highlands.
