Wow...those shoes would be filthy in minutes here. charcoal grey available? 👍🤣

Absolutely use the counter top on island! You just wanted "everything new" at once. Slow down.

Got them at Ross. Only pair they had - surprised they were in my size and in wide width! They were more than the cheap price Ilike to pay and at first I thought they were just tennis shoes and was going to put them back. Then I decided to try them on since it is hard to find wide width comfortable shoes. I still didn't realize they were hard toe until I felt for my toes in them! Then I noticed the tags attached to them stating they were "Work Shoes". Duh.

The color is not practical but I figure I can keep them for my "good" work shoes. :gig As opposed to any other work shoes I have like my old tennis shoes that are falling apart, no longer comfortable, and due to be thrown out. But I just can't make myself wear any new pairs in the manure. I have muck boots for manure and mud. These can be my tractor driving shoes!:lol::lol:

Our good friend Kris is not driving out from Fort Worth for a visit after all. He texted at 4 am that his sister had been shot and killed! The family is devastated. They lost his brother a year or so ago to cancer, and I wrote about all the bad luck he had been having in the past few months. This is just another horrible blow for him. :hit

WOAH - I love Sketchers but I didn't know they made work shoes!!! Hot damn! I'll have to keep an eye out for them.
OK so you all are talking about goat weed --- you would know the answer for this --- is it the same stuff that we have out here that has goat heads??

Levi came by and told us that we have plenty of 75' wire left - we will have about 3 rolls + after the first fencing is finished. We decided to have him do more of the fencing for us. We have enough posts and wire left to do the remainder of the surrounding fencing and the secondary fence to keep the dogs safe. I had him do the fence all along both sides of the driveway. I will just put the wrought iron fencing across the property in front of the house and down the side of the driveway to the carport. Everything else will be the 75" wire. DH found the money so decided to just get it done and be finished. There is plenty of other work for us to do here besides fencing. Barn repair, pen set up, water lines to barn, and electrical wires to be run to the barn, shed, and the well. Also, electrical wire repairs in attic, wallpaper stripping, wall washing, and painting, etc. Plenty of fun stuff to do once we are living here with our sheep and dogs.

Levi also told me about a good meat processor in Sulphur Springs where he has taken his animals for years. Not USDS, but since it is just for our own family that will be ok and cheaper. Learning about places to buy stuff and getting referrals to good people. :)

Went to the Co-Op today for the part for the mower. DH pulled the part and it looked like the threads were stripped as well as missing the nut. Then went to the Bank to make a small deposit. We have to do that every time we come out. Forgot for a year and they sent us a letter that they were going to close the account for lack of use. Was able to get them to put a note in the file but needed to do a deposit. On the way to get gas DH and I got a Dairy Queen. Blue Bell reigns supreme but sometimes soft serve just hits the spot! Then stopped at a vegetable stand in Yantis that had been recommended to us as having home grown veggies. Got some really nice looking tomatoes, nectarines, squash, and a yellow fleshed watermelon. Had to laugh when we got home since they forgot to take the sticker "Product of Mexico" off one of the tomatoes!

Yeah, “home grown” but WHOSE home?

I’ve used Hopkins County Food Locker before, it was started by the man’s grandfather, on 3rd generation. It’s right downtown, can see the courthouse! He can’t expand, no room. As long as it remains the same, he’s ok. No more slaughter places in the city limits but he’s grandfathered in by being there so long. I’ll text you the contact information and you can add it in your phone

I'm sooo glad I'm not the only one with different levels of 'good' work shoes... The ones with the sole barely attached that actually offer little protection but seem to always get chosen when I KNOW I'm going to be in something nasty... The comfortable sneakers that are stained black/green for mowing... the crocks for when I'm just going to pop out and open a gate or something (and come back 2hrs later wishing I had the comfey sneakers)

This place is t friendly to even tennis shoes. Chiggers attack ankles. It’s boots of suffer the consequences. I lived in my rubber boots all winter. Men’s rubber boots are so much better than the thin, cutesy print ladies rubber boots. Then it got hot. I was forced to buy BRAND NEW Justin boots to put in the sheep lot, dust and dirt. They are nice looking boots, but that won’t last…..
