I hit a big rock that I have mowed over for 7 years but it is on a slope by our big drainage ditch that I guess it had eroded enough that I hit it just right (or wrong) to have it exposed. Anyway, that was last Tuesday and I ordered a new spindle for my mower deck so I could hopefully get it before the long weekend. By Thursday it wasn't showing out for delivery so I went to another vendor and ordered a pair of them so I could maybe get it by the 5th.
If the first order isn't coming my way by tomorrow morning, they can just do a refund. I needed to replace the mower belt and blades also so it's all part of trying to do 8 hours of mowing every week without killing your mower.
The rocks here push up a bit every winter - frost heaves. Thus it is never safe to just mow the field. I keep my hand on the 3 point lever when I'm near a known "low" rock so I can quickly pull the flail up if I hear the dreaded metal on stone sound.
We don't get much in the way of ground freeze here but where I hit that stone is a drainage area that does get as high as 5' and 30' wide at times. The spindles that I ordered a couple of days ago came today while the first one never did arrive but I just checked and Amazon refunded me.
COSTCO was on the high side today but we had a lot of things that we only get there so we buy plenty of those things.
Nearest Costco to us will be in Dallas. We will have to make a giant list and go to lunch while there. Make a day of it I suppose. No more running to Costco for a BBQ chicken!

Ours is in Brentwood which is right at 55 miles but I would drive that just to stock up on their thick Maple bacon. We get three or four two packs at a time. I wasn't paying a lot of attention but Teresa said the bill was just under $450. I have lived in places where a two hour commute was pretty steady so 55 miles can fill a day with a few other stops. I was stationed in DC for right at three years but lived in Virginia Beach. The assignment was only supposed to be for 4 months but kept getting extended.
I'm not sure why but I just about have all of the OOPS lambs tame enough that they don't scatter when I approach but they are all going to market. It's almost a shame since this bunch is about the best looking lambs that we have had. Their confirmation is about as good as it gets and all of those other fine points that you look for are all there.
