Nothing new here and I haven't even had to cut any grass due to the lack of rain for a couple weeks. For the grass that needs to be cut, I put the bagger on the mower and am hauling that to the sheep to take some pressure off the paddocks. Our adult sheep have gotten the benefit of the mower before so as soon as they see the mower pulling close to a gate, they come to see if it's going to be pig out time. :)

The young ram is proving to be a challenge but he is coming around. I can usually get a lamb tame in a couple of days but he is being stubborn. He has quit being so skittish when I am around him and I have been running him and Babs into the chute several times a day. I don't try to make young rams pet tame but I want them comfortable enough around people that they can be relatively safe to work with. I think we turned the corner today as I ran them through the chute since he had been laying down to avoid being touched but this afternoon, he just stood there waiting to see what evil was going to be done to him. When I let them go through and back to the stall, he was calm and stood there waiting for a cracker.

We finally got a bit of rain this evening. It was only about a half inch but I swear that I could hear the grass sighing out there.

Today was a routine day other than taking Mel and Maisy in for another skunk bath. This is the second time this year but they didn't get hit as bad as the last time. This is one of those things you can take care of at home but our vet charges $40 per dog to completely get rid of the smell so to me, there is no more thinking about this one.

If you didn't have a hot summer I'd be sending you some of the 90+ degree days we're having. Hopefully it'll get cool here soon.

Our summers are usually fairly mild. We have a couple weeks in the 90's in September and that's about it. We are likely to have frost in the morning. and then back up which is also the norm.
