We eat our biggest meal midday so she had already stopped to eat earlier. I do have a casserole made with ground beef, several different vegetables and turnips if Teresa wants some of that.

We are having our typical December weather where it goes from spring to winter and back to fall all in a couple of weeks. We have been getting down to the 20's so I have been keeping my water jugs in the barn so I can take enough out in the mornings to melt down the frozen troughs, but it is supposed to warm up some later in the week so we can separate Oshi from the ewes along with Pete (our most useful wether).

The 20’s here is SUPER COLD and HARD WINTER!!! Haven’t had any of that so far. Dips down in the 30’s and ice in the water buckets, but melted on its own.

We lamb out in the pastures and that normally means the ewes will go off by themselves to give birth.

We used to lamb down in the "pasture" -

waaaay down in the "pasture". LOL

It is amazing how fast a newborn lamb can gain 20 lbs. on the climb up from the bottom of the gully! And one reason we try to lamb in the barn now.

It's in the mid 60's here today but it doesn't look like we have a chance of more rain until tomorrow evening but that's OK since I can't cut grass for the sheep when it's real wet.

Teresa and I went to our Hispanic run Asian restaurant and it was very good (as always). Being about the only game in our little town, they seem to be doing really well. Just about everyone we know is eating there so hopefully they will make it.

Now for my PSA for the week. If you have a ram that likes to head butt in a sideways sweeping motion, make sure you are not wearing Crocs when you kick the end of his snout. Hypothetical of course, but if you are wearing Crocs, expect to have a sore foot a couple of days later.

Hypothetically of course, but any man in his PRIME that can kick a ram on his snout oughta have tougher toes than that, Crocs or no Crocs. Hypothetically of course.

That’s a lot going on in that scenario. A man in his PRIME able to kick that high, standing on one leg, balancing and not falling over, while wearing Crocs, that’s pretty darned impressive. Added bonus, the ram was impressed too and didn’t knock his a$$ down.

That wasn't the first time I have gotten him and I doubt it will be the last but we work it out most of the time. He was frustrated because I was out there to put feed out and he wasn't happy that I wasn't getting it out fast enough.

And to you Jan. It is getting close to the end of the year and I like to reflect on things that have really added to our lives. We have met some super folks from BYH but 2023 added @farmerjan to our list of true friends. I knew from all of our postings that you were true to who you were and meeting you left no doubt. I loved your visit and hope we can have many more.
