Either steels or light gray. Looks like you have some nice babies!

    Picking a goat breed.

I third LaManchas! They have good milk for cheese, and they milk a lot! And they tend to be a little less...vocal than some breeds. And they're delightfully silly!

    Thriantas

I've had Thriantas since before they were accepted into the ARBA. I don't know what your mom means by a "long time ago," as they have only been in the US a few years and are just starting to become popular now...perhaps she meant New Zealand reds? I love my Thriantas, they have wonderful...

    Fainting goats!

We have a few Mytonics. I just love them! They are quite entertaining, I've had a doe faint on me just because she was so excited from me watering them. And, I love how muscley they are. The only thing I don't like about them is how slow they grow.

The newest addition to our herd

Oh yes! He has a ton of fluff going on; they're getting sheared when I come home from school next week.

The newest addition to our herd

Well, I'm just so excited I had to share! I recently went to an exotic animal auction and came home with an alpaca gelding. We hadn't planned on getting one, so didn't have the trailor, but the little guy climbed right under the topper, layed down, and hung out back there for the ride home...

    Velveteen lops

I think they are very interesting rabbits. And yes, extremely costly. I think the lowest price I have seen on one was $50. I've come across a few sites where people have bought a couple and are working on breeding them to English Lops to "make" Velveteens, so if you're looking at getting them...

Mini Donkey and a Nervous New Mom at Dinnertime

Just keep an eye on his condition. They need very low protein, so stick to good quality grass hay. If he has a roll on his neck, definately feed less (and no, you can't get rid of 'em, once you get a fat roll, it's there for good!).

how do you pick a vet

Let me know when you find one! In our area there aren't really any good goat vets, but luckily there are a lot of very knowledgeable people to help us out and our goats haven't had anything happen yet that has called for a vet.

Pic of our 3 bottle calves-

Aww very cute! Those bottle babies are fun, and the dairies will pretty much give them away--cheap hamburger!

Mini Donkey and a Nervous New Mom at Dinnertime

Oh, my mini donkeys bray just because they know you are there and have the capacity to feed them more. Depending on the quality of your hay, I would say a slice of good hay twice a day would be plenty. Maybe even a little less than that.

    Goat "herding"?

Our goats are a little too independent to "herd." If you want them to go somewhere, it's easier to just lead them, or I'll let them all lose and make it clear that there is a food incentive to go where ever I want them. Occasionally one might get out, and in that case our Border Collie herds...

    Sables?

I'm fairly certain you could register him as a Sable then! I am not 100% sure though, but I know a family who shows Saanens and have had Sables come from them.

    Best goats for milk?

Saanens are generally the highest producing dairy goats that I know of. But there may be a breed with higher butterfat?

    Drowning donkey noises

Sounds like an alarm call to me! We had a female that would sound the alarm at EVERYTHING. People driving by, when my sister rode her horse, when the cows come up to the yard at night, when the dogs ran by the llama pasture...oh man. She wasn't wild or anything, she just was...observant? The...

    Buying Meat Rabbits

Personally, I wouldn't go for a Dutch if you are looking for a meat rabbit. We got our first Californians for $10 a piece. Californians and New Zealands, or crosses of the two would make good meat rabbits. As far as feeding pellets are good, and they can have alfalfa, but grass is less rich so...

    Anybody raising Florida Whites?

Many breeds of rabbit were just developed because they could, and as a show/fancier thing. Most have an interesting history if you really look into it. For instance, the Thrianta was developed somewhat to honor the queen in Holland, where the royal color was red. Now they are just a gorgous...

    Best Kid frendly breed

There are many breeds that are good with kids. I'm assuming the "black spot" might actually be an English Spot? Most breed of rabbit, especially the larger ones, are calm and do well with small children. My ten year old brother has a little Netherland Dwarf and he loves it.
