Oh... and being old and gimpy now, as well as down to only 2 kids (WOW Was it swank having 5 big kids at home!!!! I miss it!!!) I wanted to hire a plow service...

Guy I used last year quit... I have TWO different plow guys who have told me "maybe"

But... that is it!

And, it is now snow season... my fantasy of a no-snow winter... well, that is clearly not going to happen.

Second decent snow last night.

Hi @Alaskan long time no read for me, been away for a bit. Love going back through the photos of the landscape and really appreciate you sharing your updates. How is your shoulder doing now?
The shot has helped the inflammation..

But... it still hurts significantly.

But maybe now, without the high inflammation, it will heal???

And... I am striking out with getting a plow guy to commit to taking care of the church road.

What I really need, is to find about 20k .. just sitting around... wanting me to help it be productive... and then I could use it to get a plow truck! :old

Well... in good things...

WEDDING

Kid 2 is getting married... and I am somehow in charge of most of everything... :idunno

I don't mind... and it is a great way to help with my current pain and stress levels.... have something positive to focus on.

I have set up a huge excel spreadsheet of everything I can think of that the kids (son and his Bride-to-be) might be interested in.

And, when they show up for Christmas, we can go through it, see what they like, and then I can start figuring costs.

I have tried to find ball park costs for everything, because that of course determines how much you want something! Less expensive = better!! And luckily, both Bride and Groom agree with me on that!

I have ordered a bunch of wedding invitation samples. I am glad I did, (that did cost some), but seeing it in person is HUGE. On the screen... it just isn't the same.

Are they getting married in your beautiful church? What gorgeous wedding pictures that will make!

Congrats!

My daughter used the withjoy website, and a Google doc wedding planner spreadsheet. Emailed "save the date" withjoy link. Invitations were virtual for those who wanted that and hard copy in the mail for the more traditional people.

She planned everything herself, good thing since they got married in VA 600 miles from here. We only had to provide money ... and show up. I did convince her to hire a planner to run the show on wedding day. She would not have enjoyed the day if she had to keep everything coordinated minute by minute. Overall it went very well including live streaming for those who could not (or chose not) to travel. It was done on her phone, set up by one of the bridal party.

Actually, YES! which is why I ended up with the "doing everything" job. :D

She fell in love with my son, and our tiny church, and wants to get married here.

She wants a very small wedding... which is good, because the church is SMALL.

And actually, both of the"kids" would be happy with a very few people church wedding and nothing else.....

But... both spouse and I would like a few "wedding" things for the kids... and are happy to pay for it... and the kids are actually happy with that too.

So... for example, a professional photographer... just can't beat great photos in my mind.... and those last for forever...

Funny, but spouse wants to pay for a proper wedding cake... :idunno in whatever style the kids want... but some kind of cake...

Anyway, lucky, all 4 of us are accommodating, and laid back about the entire thing... so I think it should run smoothly.

The brides parents did a Civil wedding only, so have zero druthers, but at the same time are thrilled that their daughter is becoming religious and getting married in a religious ceremony.

So... it is COOL.

The kids are super into all historical things. And the bride wanted to wear the historical clothes from her part of the Netherlands... so... almost all black.

BUT, the bride has now found a 200 year old bodice that she is in love with. The bodice is NOT from her little district, but it is dutch. Since it is from a different district, where they do wear color, this 200 year old bodice, in excellent shape, has color!

So, she will not be an almost all black bride, as originally planned.... the bodice is from hand woven cloth... red threads one direction and blue the other... the result looks a bit purple. It still has the original embroidery... creams with a tiny bit of green and blue.
