Not as funny but after helping a friend pull a trailer through his over grown pasture. I had something banging under the truck every time I got up to 40mph. After pulling over and checking the axle the 2nd time I was trying to get a better look and have a nice 3" burn on my forehead. It was in a wheel I think.

We replaced the water pipes under the house when DS1 was 14. DH decided to replace with copper. DH had trouble fitting through the crawl hole under the house which was down in a small concrete lined pit. You had to contort yourself to get into the 27"x 27 pit then through the 18" x 24" opening. DH had taught DS1 to sweat copper pipe. DS1 offered to do the job in return for an expensive mountain bike. Deal done. With the 10 and 9 year old brothers acting as "gofers" DH crawled under the house and wormed his way through measuring and installing. He came out to sweat the pipes together. Needing a third hand, and not wanting to wait for help holding 2 pieces of pipe while he fit another piece, he laid the long pipe on the truck tailgate and proceeded to hold the red hot pipe end in place with his forehead. The scar lasted for several years.

I just came off the roof. We got all the underlayment on the roof. It was 5 strips. Plus pried up a bad patch job on a skylight that is no longer there. Pried up the whole sheet. I measured and cut 13” off the length of the plywood. Then we put it down, nailed it down. We took lots of breaks, drank lots of water and lemonade. We got it done! Then we covered it all up with the tarps for extra protection. Chance of rain every day this coming week.

I’m tired.

I know it's HOT....you're hot, he's hot, I'm hot!! You did great. Miserable job.

BUT -- LOOK AT THE VIEW!!!! 😁😁. GRASS!!! Your grass, after tying so, so hard for years, now you have grass. Oh, yeah, the roof looks good, too.
Yeah, all I need is cleaned up fence rows and fence so I can use that grass! I’ll get there, just not fast enough.

So much work, but you are up for it. It will be worth it when you are through and you will know it was done right! Labor is the heavy cost of the budget on these big jobs. :hugs
If I had called a roofing company, I would have got a new roof fast. They are in, out and gone. AND it would have been another crap job like the one we just tore off. By doing it myself with help from friends, #1. It is a MUCH better job. #2. I’ll have a metal roof and won’t have to do this again.
