That road in your picture wouldn't be passable with most vehicles.
Everyone has a 4 wheel drive or a SUV.
My diesel truck is not a 4 WD. In wet muddy situations, that heavy engine slides. So I don’t drive it in water or mud. My car is low slung, small and light. After the water goes down, many times there is tree branches, even small logs floated out of the woods. If a squirrel did $625 in damage to my car, what would a chunk of wood do?

I’m keeping my 2004 diesel truck. Somehow I just don’t have $80,000 laying around for a new one. My car gets 42 MPG, not rushing in to trade it off either.

There are 5 homes past me and they go in and out. The road has a pretty good bottom to it. But I don’t have to go to work, so I can wait it out and let the water go down. Normally that might be a day or two. This was a big rain event that was predicted to be 3-4” in my area. Weather liars got it wrong. LOL I got 10”. Haven’t been outside yet this morning to see what’s in the rain gauge from last night, judging from the hard rains that came in waves, at least a half inch, maybe an inch. Eh. We’ll see.

To help celebrate this event, both my rubber boots have holes in them. 😃

Sounds like time to "treat" yourself -- new rubber boots! 🎉🥳🤣

Yeah, wait out the water. Wouldn't trade vehicles either. I'm with you. Having recently shopped trucks, only used!! ... I'm still in shock at prices. 😱 My old Ford (waiting to be put back together 😡) is selling for what I paid 8 yrs ago! Amazed is an understatement. Repairs are better than cost of new for us.

Not like you aren't pretty much always stocked with all your "needs" for a couple weeks. Besides, barn building has money priority 🤣🤣

Bay needs an inflatable boat and an air pump that works off the vehicle to blow it up. Don't forget the oars -or one of those tiny trolling motors. And a folding bicycle. Then she can boat out and bike to the store for supplies. Can you balance several feed bags or a roll of hay on the handlebars! Might need a bike wagon and a bigger boat.

We want a second truck. DS2's Black Dragon diesel 4WD crew cab is very fancy, and we don't want all that fancy stuff that just breaks down. On the other hand, we are borrowing it to haul loads to Texas and he is considering selling it. (He originally planned to get a 5th wheel to live in and be a traveling lineman, now with wife and 2 kids not so much.) I told him we will borrow it enough times to get the mileage up and the price down then make him an offer!
