I searched out smaller businesses to find what I needed, plus Atwoods was coming to town. TSC had always been my favorite store, but I refused to give my money to a company whose core values were so screwed up. I was in TSC enough that I was greeted by name when I walked in. There are good people who work there, the company just went off the rails. I will start shopping there again but I don’t feel loyal to their brand anymore. TSC will be more of a last place I shop because I can’t find it anywhere else.

Where did y’all purchase the reels you use on your electric fence and what brand are they? I’m starting to look into this…..

We purchased them from Kencove. I'll try to get all the links to you later to the stuff we use. Most of the electric fence supplies we got were recommended by Greg Judy.

Reels

Step in posts (these are 3 times the cost of most posts you find at farm stores, but 100% worth it. Most other posts break literally within a few weeks because they are way too brittle. These posts last 10 or more years, according to Greg Judy. We have used them for 2 years and haven't had a single one break.)

Polybraid

Powerpost (we hook the reels on this)

I created this for my FB page and wanted to share it here, because it is so painfully accurate. 😂🤣 And people ask why I still have goats? Maybe I'm crazy, but I still love them.

The tropical storm did not do any damage for us, in fact it was what we needed. We had already gone into a mini drought and the 6 or 8 inches we got broke that decidedly. The wind blew into all the shelters (we don't have and 3 sided shelters yet unfortunately), so the animals were wet, but they all dried out the next day. I'm thankful to God we got the benefits of the storm without the destruction, but praying for those who got hit are hard and the many still without electricity.

The new sheep are slowly warming up to us! Sir Lammy is going to get his apron this weekend. He will probably hate me for it, but I have NO desire for December lambs. I am planning on putting him in with the main flock for a couple months with the apron, then separating him again in September along with the wethers in the flock so I can flush the ewes. He will be going in to start breeding at the beginning of October when he turns 6 months old.

I’m so glad the rains brought welcome relief. Actually, the rain was welcomed here too. Maybe not the winds, but the 5 1/2” I got was needed. There isn’t even any mud, it soaked in.

I’m happy the sheep are settling in their new home. You are on your way to registered sheep!

This evening, I put a cute little ram apron on Sir Lambs-a-lot. It took both me and my two sisters to get it on him he was struggling so much. He's a little karate kicker! Anyways, we let him loose, and he ran for the ewes because he was scared. They all went berserk! Ram trying to escape the apron flapping in the grass, ewes running crazily away from him.
What did you do our ram?!?!!? Why is this scary monster here instead?!!!?

I put out a little extra grain, and they ran over, but nope, no can eat. Scary monster came over to eat too.

More running!

It will probably take them a few days to get completely used to it. When Moses got a cone of shame after getting fixed, the sheep acted like he was a scary monster for awhile. It is entertaining to watch meanwhile, even though I feel a bit sorry for them. 😂😆
