Morning, rough night with cat again and headaches from the the PV system due to updates. I live off grid as most know and the unit I have is in the ß (Beta) version and has been one rough up and down ride. When it takes a update it has to reset and when it resets on the inverter/charger it shuts all the power to the house and last night it didn't want to come back on.
I've had it overload on too much solar in the last deep freeze, took few panels off line restarted the unit, but when I did the inverter said too cold. I have backup for the backup, and I have a analog inverter this is how I got the unit back in the deep freeze. Out here when you lose power, you loose phone and internet too, hope the propane doesn't freeze...

Woke up at Leo o’clock to surprise two feral cats in the garage. They’re welcome to all the mice they can catch. I wonder if coyote pressure pushed them to risk the dogs (all my dogs hate/kill cats, no idea why, hence I don’t have any). Also had a great blue heron in the pasture nowhere near water. Hunting gophers I guess. They all better watch out for flogging rooster Cogburn (Flogburn) :hide

@Sequestered Ridge Ranch that system, to me, is out of my realm of expertise 🤣 If it was all I had, yeah I'd learn more -- by default. 😞 No plans to go there 🤞 id literally be wood stove & kero lamps/candles if SHTF. That system I understand!!! 🤗. BTDT

@Skiesblue those ferals are pretty good at escape, it's their live or die life😊 Hope they stay for you. Mine have made a 1000% difference in mice around here! Plus, not good feeding grounds for those damned big rat snakes now. 🤐

Been there done that too, I just figure take a step above the animals living here and be somewhat civilized in making progress in the way I know it. Don't feel bad some can't even get the basics down out here of a solar panels go to a controller that controls how much goes in to the battery and the battery goes to a inverter that inverts DC to AC in usable format.
Just this system is really efficient at it, can do it at larger quantities, and can do it with two independent systems at one time. I started off with two golf cart batteries and a generator, folks here years later still haven't gotten further than that.

I hate tax season/ paperwork season...
Ype, waiting on the forms to dribble in over the next month or so.

Not sure I would want Beta if I lived off grid!! Give me something tried and true.

That's what is in the second picture is a inverter tried and true till I can get the issue resolved, also got few generators for backup. Selling point is that saved few thousands by getting Beta and has lifetime warranty, not the usual 3 year standard warranty. Plus I learn more of what makes it tick.
When someone says “solar system” my first thought is planets. :p
Noticed I said PV system instead, yeah I think the same thing.

@Sequestered Ridge Ranch ; If someone set it up, and then walked me through it, and I could write it down so I wouldn't miss any steps, I think I could get it. I understand the basics with the inverter and all... You just rattle it off so smoothly that I feel like you were talking in a foreign language and I had barely learned how to say "Hello and Goodbye"...before they threw me out and expected me to converse in full sentences !!!!!
