Now now people, if you have 40 acres or less it's called a ranchette, not a ranch.
Out here they sell the properties as, off grid, ton of BLM land to play on scenic views, power is only so many miles away, grow your own and run a bunch of animals, be a farmer or rancher.
Let me straighten you guys out, BLM is off limits to EVERYONE!!! Unless your family was a rancher back in the 50's when they allocated the BLM land to your family, so no you can't lease BLM land, no you can't go hunting on it as you please, no you can't go galloping your horse across it and it's not a ATV track either. More than likely it's land locked too.
Scenic views, yes with off grid yes, but what we didn't tell you is the sound of a close neighbor running his generator(s) 24/7 cause he believed he was beating the man on getting such cheap land, but can't afford anyone to put solar in for him, can't pay power to be ran to his home and can't figure out Watts are Watts in power.
You need at least 49 acres per a head of cow or whatever due to lack on rainfall which carries over to how much water you would need to grow crops. Forewarn you, your little F150/F250 can carry that 500 gallons water after you bottom the suspension out, strain the powertrain and blow a few tires on the gravel roads here. In which I get to come along and save your dumb arse cause you didn't know weight of water is 8.34 lbs per a gallon.
While you are at it on trying to start of business living off the land, there is covenants, tons of them!!! Might not know it when you bought the place, but you will find out when you are summoned to court by your neighbor who has all authority to do so cause you have less than 80 acres and he has checked off all the requirements on the list. Also you took over 180 days to build a structure, no... straw bale houses covered in cob aren't going to work either.
