Howdie All!

I am a member of a herdshare, and just yesterday our Jersey Mom calved.

Three of her teats is producing milk, one is not, but it feels very full.

There is no infection, and Mom is doing well.

Is this something to be concerned about? I dont want Mom to get sick or develop something wrong because of this.

Any advice or tips?

Sometimes a teat can be so severely congested that the milk won't come through. An anti-inflammatory plus gentle persistence will often get the teat to work.

I agree with this. I don't know much about calves, but this looks like a good suggestion and I do have dairy goats so...

I have the same problem with one of my goats and massage doesn't seem to be doing the trick. What kind of anti-inflammatory can I use??

We use Metacam over here.....but any anti-inflammatory should have the same effect.

Good Luck.
