Someone lost Ms Piggy this morning. Got a text from a friend 10 miles up the road asking if it was ours, no but if not claimed it will be along with all the piglets it's carrying. In my opinion, we all have 20 plus acres and if a pig wonders away several parcels away means someone isn't watering or feeding their pigs. Many of times my fences went down and my pigs never wondered off this property even after getting out of their fenced in area.

She's out looking for what she considers a good place to have her pigs. Had one sow that did that... and she was such a good momma that I just let her out when she was getting close. She'd go up and have them next to a big round bale she had hollowed out along the base... come home a couple days later to eat... and then bring them back down about 3-4 weeks old... she knew they would get fed and she didn't have to travel back and forth every day to eat once they were big enough to get around...

Well they finally went and got the pig after I called their inlaws up in Arizona that live out here and told them where the pig is. It ate our friends dogs food which Pooch's brother "Gus" and in total traveled over 4 miles before caught. They "walked" it back home and claim to feed it twice a day, but I know better based on a pig traveling that many miles.
Good thing I have slowly built a community up that where if any of my animals leave I have neighbors willing to look out for them miles away.

What keeps rodents from eating it?
Besides cats not much except it's not on the floor and they are on steel grates that are on pallets over a pit. They slip off the grate slats trying to climb and there is a 10 foot drop into the pit below. Same with the backhoe, turn the wheel too far and the front wheel was going down there too with the backhoe and the feed.
