I threw Fen’s world into turmoil this morning.

I actually slept in a bed. He came in and GENTLY woke me up. (Not his usual parade of liter bottle cracking) He played with us on the bed stretching across me completely with his back legs straight out behind him and his fronts straight out in front of him so he’s 10’ long 😂
But then, tragedy struck.
The stirring of the first hunger pang raised its ugly head.
He raced to his big crate, pulled open the door, climbed in and assumed his FeedMeNow position.

…no one could see him 😱

he would surely die hongry…

Cinnamon iced coffee today. Decent outside with sauna conditions later. Weevils cost me 10 lbs of scratch grain. Smaller variety than I’ve seen before- the lesser of two weevils :hide So bunk clean out, grooooom Smitty, clipper Smitty, bake chicken for us and dogs ( .79 per pound leg quarters). Any advice on clipping a Pyr? I want to get the undercoat out with the rake first then tidy up and do mats. Busy morning- one of those “we’re burning daylight” * days.
Name that quote anyone? 😜

Got a call right after posting....could the city boy come this morning? YES!! SO a nice kid gone, $$ in pocket. 🤣 The one I sold -- a really nice one! -- was also tamer and easy to catch. 👍 About 75# for $250...slightly over $3# on hoof. He's taking to a friend to butcher, they're doing a "guy BBQ" tomorrow. Vietnamese group👍

So, no round up before🤣. But still to do that -- just on my terms/time.

Oh my! I wish I could find leg quarters at that price as I feed Fen raw. 😵‍💫
I never shave my double coated dogs as the coat insulates them from heat. I just get out undercoat, throw a kiddy pool out, make sure they have shade and they are good to go!
My next dog will be Anatolian or Kangal though as I hate the mats my Maremmas got

Good day all. Had a few pages to catch up on. As far as a car for feed, that's what we use most (almost soley). More room in it than my rig truck and the farm truck isn't tagged.
Still need a little rain. We got that 1" the other day and I still put 750 gallons on 1 acre the next day. Wet in spots where I stopped and bone dry a foot away.

@Blue Sky ... just a question.. why is the 10 lbs of scratch grain wasted? Chickens eat all sorts of bugs... let them eat it. Just keep it where the weevils can't get into other feed (like dog food) and feed it to the chickens. That's fresh protein for them.
I used to buy my chicken feed by the ton and fed all those meat birds and the layers. Then with the ankle and then knee replacements, and the da$#@d predators, didn't have any chickens for a year plus. The feed I still had in the bin got some bugs in it... could see some webby stuff... the chickens get it free choice now and what ever is in the feeder left over, when I clean it out once a week, I dump and they can eat it or not. I caught them going crazy after some of the wiggly stuff that was in some of the feed I brought home from the feed bin.

If they eat those icky meal worms they definitely won’t turn their beaks up at a few weevils

I I liked Mr. Nightlinger too and I have an irrational dislike of Bruce Dern to this day.
I’m taking and raking and raking under coats off of everybody even short haired Leo. I have to bathe Crockett but have held off. It’s so humid I’m afraid he’ll be damp for days and possibly sprout his own Ghillie suit. Feed- the birds won’t eat it and it’s a bug I don’t recognize. I’ll try it, I’ve fed meal worms. Horn worms are a big NO with my bantams. Boy the stink eye I got when I offered those. You’d think it was mustard.
