No, we fill up everytime we leave town. We have enough in the tank to get home and back to town again. There is no phone service or anything on the road going both to Burns which is West of us, and Idaho which is NE. It’s just a lot of empty land, sage brush, cattle and wild horses. And yes, that’s one way. The post office is 82 miles away.
We keep 3-6 months worth of raw ingredients in the pantry, I do a lot of canning and we raise all our own meat.

If we go to town it’s 4 hours of this

I can't actually wrap my mind around being 80miles from ANYTHING.....
Just thinking about the few times that I've had a real emergency and needed to reach out to a neighbor or needed to make a quick run somewhere for an item.

Been missing you!
Around the middle of June I found myself unable to log in to this site. Skiesblue is a previous account that I replaced with Bluesky for the same reason. Suddenly yesterday Skiesblue started working. I can’t imagine what the problem is because I didn’t have problems with other sites. I’m still having issues with posting here- posting option isn’t offered or site doesn’t come up. It’s been a busy, eventful summer so far not to mention hot. Hope you all are ok.

Hey all not much new here. Been day dreaming about farm life again the lack of outside chores right now might be a blessing between the heat and this pregnancy things have been interesting. Got the kids doing chores aka cleaning lol then going to finish up school. Plan to try to get more organized even through I whether nap at this point. Dh has been going to work by 4:40 in the morning so been making his breakfast then going down for a nap until the kids wake up and I have to cook again lol. Lots of cooking. Thinking about staying up to bake breads but need the motivation. Also need to start making dinners and lunches for the freezer... I got several breakfast items wouldnt hurt to add some more things. I always find it funny when people accuse me of nesting no it's not nesting because I don't want to do it nor have the energy it's just necessary. The midwife is coming next week. Been missing my original midwife but she can't come out this far which sucks but oh well. Going to make my to-do list for the things I want to get done. But we shall see what happens.

The post office is the closest thing 😂 Burns (closest town but so small they don’t carry anything so we don’t go there) is 110 miles away. We drive 230 miles one way to grocery shop or see Dr, run errands…we usually leave around 5 or 6 am and get home between 11 and 2 am depending.
I can tell you that when I bucked off my mare onto the rocks and broke all my ribs on left side, driving down 35 miles of gravel ranch road then on into the hospital in town was agonizing!

Got to choke down 2 cups of coffee before taking care of the rabids and chicks. Climbed up the ladder to pick elderberries and didn’t fall until I got OFF the ladder ! Nothing broken so no harm, no foul. Spending the rest of the day with a fork and a bucket of elderberries that need to come off their branches. With any luck I will get around to making some bread.

Fen decided he doesn’t like elderberries 😂
